A group of all stars including Big Star original Jodie Stephens will perform the Third/Sisters Lovers Big Star album on March 15th at Austins Paramount Theatre.
Joining Jodie Stephens for the performance will be Mike Mills and Peter Buck of R.E.M. and Chris Stamey of the dBs.
Prior to the performance the SXSW Film Festival will screen "Nothing Can Hurt Me" a full length Big Star documentary which tells the story of Big Star with particular attention to their stuggle to gain commercial acceptance in a time when their genius was lauded by critics but not supported by the machine. The legacy Big Star have left in the hearts and minds of music fans will go on.
The event comes just two years after the tragic passing of Alex Chilton. Big Star were due to play SXSW just days before Chilton died of a massive heart attack.
