Not surprisingly the "Gig Of 2012" nay, perhaps the decade has sold out in Perth. The Hoodoo Gurus 30th Anniversary Invitational has already announced that the likes of Redd Kross and The Sonics will playing, but there is more!
Steve Wynn, the singer / songwriter for L.A. Paisley Underground prime movers The Dream Syndicate (the proud owners of a generational classic in 'The Days of Wine and Roses') and later frontman for both The Miracle Three and The Baseball Project (the latter featuring R.E.M's Peter Buck) returns to Australia after a 25 year absence. Performing in duo-mode with his wife Linda Pimon (on drums), Steve Wynn will perform classics old and new when he joins team Dig it Up! for shows Sydney and Melbourne.
Lucky Sydney also get KIM SALMON and SPENCER P JONES !!!!!! Touted in the media release as this; " Individually they have spearheaded a multitude of post-punk acts forever on the lips of the underground tastemakers, from the Scientists and The Johnny's to The Beasts and The Surrealists to The Escape Committee and Precious Jules. See them perform the almost-hits from all these combos as well as material from their respective solo catalogues over a solo set each plus a rare duo outing. Another Sydney Dig it Up! exclusive." For my money (and I think I have raved enough about it on these pages,) both Spencer P Jones and Kim Salmon are Australias greatest living musical treasures.
