The much plagued Heatwave Festival is copping it from all quarters at the moment. Australia's first nationally touring hip-hop festivus has had a shambolic start in Adelaide.
Heatwave has been criticised incessantly throughout the media for the last couple of months. It's as if the constant yabbering about bad organisation, etcetera has hexed the event right from the start. Organisers must have been scratching their heads and wondering what the hell kind of joke the universe was playing when headliners D12 missed their flight and were unable to play their scheduled set in Adelaide last Friday night. Despite organisers attempts to have them play the Saturday the band was a no show. Aaaargh!
Compounding the frustration were the reported incidents of punters attacking performers with knives...WTF ? Heatwave have since advised the media that no knives were thrown at the event after a "heavy investigation" by security.
Organisers can still not conifrm if D12 will play Brisbane tomorrow, however in the spirit of summer, festivals, music and lovers of all three, I hope Heatwave ends up being tops regardless of the problems. These guys need a break.
