Corey Taylor, frontman for SLIPKNOT has not been able to contain his fury over his dislike and disappointment at working with Rick Rubin on Slipknot’s 2004 album Vol. 3 (The Subliminal Verses).
Rick Rubin is known for his work with Red Hot Chili Peppers, Slayer, Metallica and the upcoming Black Sabbath reunion album.
Given the commentary from Taylor at a Q&A in Texas last week I don't know that any band would be interested in working with Rubin again, unless their dream is to work with Jabba the Hutt. According to Corey, Rubin's contributon to the 2004 album consisted of 45 minutes a week where Rubin would lie on a sofa, eat and was so lazy that the studio engineer would have to set up a mic for him so he didn't need to move from his lounging position on the couch. Corey paints a pretty nasty picture though one cannot help wondering why Taylor would communicate the horror of working with Rubin if his accusations had no foundation.
“The Rick Rubin of today is a thin, thin, thin shadow of the Rick Rubin that he was. He is overrated, he is overpaid, and I will never work with him again as long as I f**king live.” Them's fighting words.
