The Facebook application "UNLOCKED" is responsible for the huge success of Rihanna's new album "Talk that Talk".
The "UNLOCKED " app has generated over a million new Twitter followers and 700,000 Facebook friends signing up to follow the star.
All a fan needs to do is 'like' the UNLOCKED page. And then... just like a choose your own adventure, fans are then able to complete a series of tasks to unlock sections of the album. Little surprises that can be unlocked by fans include first single We Found Love, the release date, album artwork, lyric sheets and a new website. Sounds like much more fun than your average music download.
Who knows whether the staggering success of this online campaign will increase sales, however it is certainly a stroke of brilliance.
