One of Australia's greatest live acts Cold Chisel is about to be honored with a tribute album.
'Standing On The Outside: The Songs of Cold Chisel' will be released through Warner Music on March 31st.The cream of Australia's music acts, including Paul Kelly, The Living End, Something For Kate and Ben Lee have contributed to the album.
The album will also feature 'Shipping Steel' by Perth teen act The Flairz.
Cold Chisel was one of Australia's biggest rock acts, selling over 3 million units in Australia.
The band, fronted by Jimmy Barnes, co-vocals from Ian Moss and the songwriting talents of Don Walker, formed in Adelaide in 1973.
Their debut single 'Khe Sahn', released in 1978, was banned by radio but became a massive hit regardless.
Chisel's 1980 album 'East' established the band and became their signature album woth tracks such as 'Cheap Wine', 'Choir Girl' and 'Rising Sun'.
In 1983, at the peak of their career, Cold Chisel broke up but reunited in 1998 for the album 'Last Wave Of Summer' and an Australian tour. They were bigger than ever.
They reformed again in 2003 for the 'Ringside' tour which was later released as a live album and DVD.
