Proto-grunge icons Mudhoney and Texan post-rock monsters Explosions in the Sky have both announced Australian tours centered around their performances at the Meredith Music Festival this December.
Fans in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne will each get a chance to see the band’s headline their own shows, why fans in Hobart and Perth will have the added bonus of a Mudhoney show.
Mudhoney’s legacy as a hugely influential band was set when Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain declared his love for the band. The Seattle scene had yet to have exploded onto the world, but Mudhoney were already sowing the seeds for the scene with their early EP ‘Superfuzz Bigmuff‘ - named after the guitar pedals that would define their sound. The EP featured the band’s first single ‘Touch Me I’m Sick’.
Explosions in the Sky have a reputation for leading the post rock movement. Over the last eleven years, they have pumped out six critically acclaimed albums with their latest, ‘Take Care, Take Care, Take Care‘ showing no hints of the band’s rock solid sound wavering with time.
Both of these shows are going to be amazing, so if you’re not going to Meredith - or even if you are - get yourself a ticket to one of these sideshows ASAP.
