Gotye’s ‘Making Mirrors’ album sold in true old fashioned numbers last week with around 38,000 fans taking home the album in Australia and sending it to number one.
Gotye is Belgium born, Melbourne based Wouter (Wally) De Backer.
His 2006 album ‘Like Drawing Blood’ earned him a gold certification in Australia.
The 38,000 sales of ‘Making Mirrors’ was enough to push Adele ‘21’ off the top spot and back to number 2.
Gotye beat out other debuts from Jack Vidgen ‘Yes I Am’ at 3, Josh Pyke ‘Only Sparrows’ at 4, Nero ‘Welcome Reality’ at 12 and Frenzal Rhomb ‘Smoko At The Pet Food Factory’ at 14.
