Audioslave frontman Chris Cornell has left the group, citing "irresolvable personality conflicts".
Cornell said in a statement, "Due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences, I am permanently leaving the band Audioslave. I wish the other three members nothing but the best in all of their future endeavors."There were hints of the band going their separate ways, when Rage Against The Machine (featuring Brad, Tom and Tim from Audioslave) announced they would reform and play at the Coachella festival in California this April.
Chris Cornell also recorded a solo single as the theme to 'Casino Royale', 2006's James Bond effort, 'You Know My Name'.
The band formed in 2001 after Rage Against The Machine split with their front man Zach De La Rocha in 2000. Cornell's previous band Soundgarden had split after their 1997 Australian tour. He released one solo album in the meantime.
They had three albums in their short career.
Cornell will release his second solo album 'Carry On' on April 28, produced by Steve Lilywhite. There is no word of a Rage Against The Machine recording yet.
