Music download company Guvera has appointed former Virgin Music and Warner Brothers CEO Phil Quartararo as its Global Head of Music.
Quartararo was hand-picked by Richard Branson in 1986 to co-found Virgin Records America. He worked the careers of Paula Abdul, Spice Girls, Janet Jackson, Smashing Pumpkins and Lenny Kravitz.
“Phil’s experience and contacts from over 30 years in the business will be an incredible asset to Guvera in its current growth phase,” said CEO and Founder Claes Loberg. “His influence at the helm of companies including Virgin Music and Warner Bros. Records has shaped the industry as we know it”.
Guvera was launched 12 months ago as an advertiser supported free download service. It now has over 200,000 registered users who can download and stream more than 3 million songs.
