Powderfinger have picked up a Helpmann Award for Best Australian Contemporary Concert and Leonard Cohen has won the International Concert Award at the Helpmann Awards, handed out in Sydney this week.
Powerfinger’s ‘Sunsets The Farewell Tour’ was won by the band and touring company Secret Service and Village Sounds.
Michael Gudinski’s Frontier Touring Company won the international award for Leonard Cohen @ Hanging Rock.
Comedian Tim Minchin also picked up the award for Best New Australian Work for his show Tim Minshin vs Sydney Symphony.
Splendour In The Grass won Best Contemporary Music Festival.
The Helpmann Awards were held in Sydney on Monday night. The show included performances by the casts of Dr Zhivago, Hairspray, Mary Poppins and Rock of Ages; Ben Lewis (The Phantom) from Love Never Dies, The Ten Tenors, Slava and Leonard Grigoryan, Expressions Dance Company from Brisbane, STOMP, and the Opera Australia Chorus.
