Uber-producer Timbaland has revealed the title and release date of his highly anticipated second solo album.
'Shock Value' will be released March 28 in the States, and comes some eight years after his debut record, 'Tim's Bio'. It features and eclectic range of collaborators, including the obvious (Jay Z, Nelly Furtado, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg) and the not-so (Bj??rk, Elton John, The Hives, Fall Out Boy).Timbaland told allhiphop.com that he intended the album to have a narrative flow, much like that of a movie.
"It's a non-stop flow that tells a story," he said. "My mission is to blow up the boundaries and tear down the limits. I'm not getting away from what I'm known for; I'm just going to a place where it's all about the music, not about the labels on the music. I'm taking my music outside of the box. That's why I call it 'Shock Value' -from the artists to the production, it will shock the system."
Timbaland previewed the album on Monday night at the Thom Thom Club in Los Angeles, telling the crowd, "it ain't just rap, it's some of everything". Perhaps a bit hesitant about stepping out of the studio and onto the stage, he added, "You brought me out of the studio to do this, so I need to know you're all with me!"
