Pixies And Gnarls Play Blackjack

Reformed Boston alterna-rock heroes The Pixies headline Perth's Blackjack 2007.

From the team that brought Perth Rock-It, comes Blackjack 2007. And they've managed to snare a couple of the V Festival's (and the world's) biggest acts to play out west, as well as some of Australia's biggest live bands.

First things first, WA gets a taste of the newly reformed The Pixies, the group headed by alterna-rock royalty Frank Black and Kim Deal and who are cited by virtually the entire grunge movement as inspiration. Joining them are the new kids on the hip hop soul block Gnarls Barkley, arguably the most exciting act to hit the mainstream in 2006.

Then come the Australian big guns. Still kicking ass and taking names, our multi-platinum rockabilly battlers The Living End promise more high octane Aussie anthems. Then we have hometown heroes, and national superstars Add to that, incendiary grunge punks The Vines, heavy rockin' local heroes Birds of Tokyo (featuring members of Karnivool) and Melbourne's raw rock upstarts Children Collide and Blackjack 2007.

One day on April 5, one stage at the Claremont Showgrounds, one hell of a show.
