Wollongong is about to get its first major music festival when 80s Rewind Music Festival hits Kembla Grange in October.
The line-up includes The Human League, Kool and the Gang, Sister Sledge, Bananarama, ABC, Midge Ure of Ultravox, Ross Wilson, Mental As Anything, Tony Hadley of Spandau Ballet, Nik Kershaw, Go West, John Paul Young and Pseudo Echo.
The 80s Rewind Music Festival started in the UK in 2009. The event at Henley-on-Thames attracted 30,000 in the first year and 40,000 in 2010.
The Australian line-up for 2011 features a who’s who of 80s pop.
Hits from these guys include ‘Don’t You Want Me’ (Human League), ‘I Heard A Rumour’ (Bananarama), ‘The Look Of Love’ (ABC), ‘Vienna’ (Ultravox), ‘True’ (Spandau Ballet), ‘Wouldn’t It Be Good’ (Nik Kershaw), ‘We Close Our Eyes’ (Go West).
The 80s Rewind Music Festival is October 28-30 at Kembla Grange, NSW.
Side-shows are also started to pop up in other cities.
