Glee’s biggest stars – Lea Michele, Cory Monteith, Chris Colfer – won’t be returning for the fourth season.
Co-creator Ryan Murphy has revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that the trio won’t be returning for season four due to concerns about realism.
He said, “You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”
When the students graduate at the end of the current season, he admitted that more characters will be leaving than staying.
Murphy says that the season premiere on September 20 will reveal who is staying and who is going.
“We already made the decision before the new writers came in, but everybody likes where we’re taking it and what we’re writing toward,” he noted.
They are already writing storylines about the characters planning to go to college.
