Bruce Springsteen and the e Street Band saxophone player Clarence Clemons has died in Florida at the age of 69.
Clemons suffered a stroke one week ago and had two brain surgeries last Sunday but on Saturday (June 18, 2011) lost his battle.
Clemons was a founding member of the E Street Band with Springsteen and played with Bruce on every E Street Band album and tour.
In 1985, he even had his own hit song with Jackson Browne ‘You’re A Friend Of Mine’.
Clemons also played on Aretha Franklin’s ‘Freeway of Love’ and had a small appearance in the movie ‘Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure’ with Martha Davis from the Motels and Fee Weybill from The Tubes as the three most important people in the world. He has also appeared in The Simpsons, The Wire, Nash Bridges and Diff’rnt Strokes.
Clarence Clemons most recent collaboration only surfaced this week. He is in the new Lady Gaga video ‘The Edge of Glory’ and performed on the song ‘Hair’, ‘The Edge of Glory’ and ‘Highway Unicorn’ on her recent ‘Born This Way’ album.
In 1990, Clarence also joined Ringo Starr in Ringo’s All-Starr Band.
