New Mexico gyspy-indie act Beirut finally announce their third album and stream a single.
Beirut’s ringleader Zach Condon and his revolving circus of musicians captivated the indie scene with their take on world music, electronica, folk and rock on 2006’s Gulag Orkestar and 2007’s The Flying Cup Club.
Apart from an EP in 2009, and some confusing side-projects, they’ve been mostly quiet. Until now.
Beirut announced that they’ll be releasing a new album this August 30 called The Rip Tide, which Condon has described as “sunny”.
They’ve also put the first song up on Soundcloud. It’s called ‘East Harlem’ and will be officially released on June 14 online and as a 7-inch from their shows.
Beirut already have a suite of shows booked in the US, Canada and Europe from now until September.
Have a listen to ‘East Harlem’ below.
