Motley Crue's Mick Mars is making plans for when he is no longer with the band.
The band isn't thinking of breaking up, but Mick Mars, guitarist for Motley Crue, is making plans for his musical career outside of his long-time band.
Mars recently talked with the Dallas Observer and told them about jamming with jazz great George Benson. The two share a huge respect for Wes Montgomery which led to their session and Mars enjoyed it so much that he started thinking of recording a solo project, one based in R&B, classic soul and blues.
Nothing is firm yet as the Crue is out on the road for the summer with Poison but Mars is already trying to lineup people for the sessions. "I found the right drummer, and I've asked Macy Gray if she'd like to guest on it.
It's not going to be anything like Motley Crue, but a lot of different cultural beats. I call it 'pure music."
