Sop-popster James Blunt looks set to counter allegations that he's a sop-popster by performing at Elton John's annual Academy Awards party this year.
Despite unleashing onto the world such tunes as 'You're Beautiful' and 'Goodbye My Lover', Blunt was keen to debunk his image as an overtly sensitive guy in an interview with US 'Life' magazine."Everyone thinks I'm this quiet singer-songwriter who stays at home every night. I've never been that person. I'm a big partyer", he said.
"I drink a lot. I do. And I go to a quiet place and start writing. I'm not an observer, [songs come from] something I've experienced or felt. The last two years will have a place on the next record."
Blunt will have the opportunity to continue his hard-drinking ways at Elton John's 15th annual AIDS foundation Academy Awards celebration on February 25, where he will be performing.
"James is a truly talented singer-songwriter," Sir Elton said in a statement. "His voice and expressive lyrics enchant audiences worldwide. I have no doubt that he will do the same for our guests on Oscar night."
Watch out ladies.
