Smashing Pumpkins' comeback album will be titled 'Zeitgeist', Billy Corgan has revealed.
It will be released on Saturday 7 July in the States, a move away from the standard industry practice which sees albums usually released on a Tuesday. Corgan, perhaps indulging his rock deity desires, was likely drawn to the prospect of releasing the album on the 07/07/07.The plan was announced via a message to the band's Myspace 'friends', along with the suggestion that the band - which only features drummer Jimmy Chamberlin from the original line-up - will embark on a world tour later in the year.
The news comes in the wake of the announcement of four European shows. The band will preview tunes from the new album during the festival dates in June.
