One-time Taxiride member Tim Watson says he “dodged a bullet” after he was bitten by a brown snake in Port Douglas on Tuesday night.
Watson had an interesting end to his Queensland holiday when he was bitten on the heel in the carpark of the Mirage Marina at around 7pm.
He was taken by ambulance to the emergency ward at Cairns Base hospital for blood tests, analysis and observation.
Tim tells the story of Undercover. “After blood and urine tests plus ECG readings it was determined that no envenomation took place (known as a dry bite). I was kept under observation for 12 hours before being released and flying home to Melbourne,” he said.
Tim can now bore his friends with snake trivia and show off his “war wounds” whenever he seems them now. “Brown snakes are the second deadliest snake in the world but in encounters with humans brown snakes only inject venom in 1 out of 10 cases (because humans are too large to eat as prey) so dodged a bullet there,” he says.
“Best buy a tatts ticket I think”.
Tim Watson was an original member of Taxiride, forming the band with Jason Singh and Tim Wild in 1996. Watson co-wrote the bands biggest hit ‘Creepin’ Up Slowly’ with Singh and Wild. He left the band in 2003.
