Keith Richards has confirmed that there is a new X-Pensive Winos in the works but don’t hold your breath for anything from the Rolling Stones.
The X-Pensive Winos is Keith’s “other band”. To date, they have only released two albums, ‘Talk Is Cheap’ in 1988 and ‘Main Offender’ in 1992.
Keith appeared on the Jimmy Fallon show this week and confirmed that they are back in the studio working on a third record. “I got to working with Steve Jordan from the X-Pensive Winos. When inspiration hits …,” he told Fallon.
When asked if it was for a new album Keith responded. “Yeah probably. It is starting to blossom”.
But don’t expect a Rolling Stones record anytime soon. “I’m trying to nail them down but I don’t want to crucify them, if you know what I mean,” Keith said.
The last Rolling Stones studio album was ‘A Bigger Bang’ in 2005. After spending more than three years on the road following its release, the Stones went into hibernation. They did some promo for the 40th anniversary reissue of ‘Exile On Main Street’ last year and not much else. They are not expected to do anything until maybe late 2012, early 2013 for their 50th Anniversary.
