Paula Abdul has been confirmed as a judge on the US X Factor just hours before the first auditions were to begin.
Simon Cowell is blaming attorneys for holding up the deal and says he would have had to cancel the Sunday auditions if Paula wasn’t over the line.
Antonio L.A. Reid and Cheryl Cole will join Abdul and Cowell when the first show airs in September.
Abdul was a judge on American Idol from 2002 until 2009 but left that show when contract negotiations broke down. Ellen Degeneres who lasted one season and was then replaced by Steven Tyler replaced her.
In Australia, former Spice Girl Mel B and former Rogue Traders singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte have been announced as the new X Factor judges.
