Melbourne-based rapper Macromantics releases her debut in the US.

Romy Hoffman is Macromantics, Australia's first female underground hip hop sensation. Her debut album, 'Moments In Movement', was released through Remote Control/Inertia in Australia in the latter part of 2006.

After shooting through the country on the Big Day Out 2007, the album is finally being released on cult US indie label Kill Rock Stars, well known for their pioneering work in the riot grrl movement of the '90s Macromantics is now labelmates with the current roster including indie champs The Gossip, Deerhoof and Linda Perry.

Beginning as a member of Bee Lee's teen grunge clique Noise Addict, Hoffman turned to the linguistic gymnastics of underground hip-hop. Her early rock credentials have led to support from the indie scene and she has often performed with bands, featuring on Ground Components debut album 'An Eye For A Brow, A Tooth For A Pick'.

She toured the US in November 2006. After her Peaches supports through the nation in January 2007, Macromantics will do a swift East Coast solo tour through February before returning to the States for solo shows, Deerhoof supports and a slot on Austin's South By Southwest industry conference.
