A court in Amsterdam has decided to drop blasphemy charges against Madonna.
The controversy stems from her recent 'Confessions' tour, which drew ire from Christian groups in virtually every country she visited. In the show, Madonna was raised on a cross whilst wearing a crown of thorns. The youth wing of Holland's Christian SGP - an orthodox and morally conservative political party - wanted Madonna charged for what they perceived as blasphemy. Madonna defended her actions, claiming conservatives had misunderstood her message for a greater collective humanity.
The court prosecutors agreed, claiming Madonna's act reflected her "disappointment and frustration over certain events in the world."
