14 of the world’s greatest soul legends sang for the Regional Medical Center in Memphis this week.
Peabo Bryson, Jerry Butler; The New Temptations Review featuring Dennis Edwards; Russell Thompkins, Jr., and The New Stylistics; The Emotions; Percy Sledge; Billy Paul; Eddie Floyd; Freda Payne; Archie Bell; Candi Staton; William Brown; Maxine Brown; and Dee Dee Sharp helped raise $275,000 at the fundraiser at the Peabody Hotel Grand Ballroom in Memphis.
The night featured soul music’s greatest stars performing 57 hit songs live over three hours.
800 people attended the seated dinner.
The evening also included an auction of Michael Jackson memorabilia donated by David Gest, the show’s emcee and a former resident of Memphis.
The musicians are also collaborating on a new soul project being recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis being produced by Lamont Dozier and also featuring Cliff Richard.
