R&B megastar Bobby Brown has revealed in an interview that he’s off the gear and on their verge of releasing his first album in 14 years.
Brown spoke to music website the BoomBox about his successful rehabilitation and a comeback album on the way.
He said, “"I'm definitely in a better place in my life. Six years sober from drugs. I'm just really grateful that I can get off the heroin, the crack, the coke.
He credits his renewed take on life to his fiancé and manager Alicia Etheridge and their son Cassius.
His forthcoming album will be called The Masterpiece, his first since 1997’s Forever.
"I've been basically trying to live and grow with myself and find what I wanted to write about," he says. "Unfortunately my mom passed [away] and I had to do something quick, so The Masterpiece is just 13 years of my ups and downs and everything that I've been through. I'm just grateful to be able to put this album out because I really feel it is a masterpiece."
He’s also in talks about a 30th anniversary reunion with his bandmates from pioneering New Jack Swing outfit New Edition.
The Masterpiece will said to feature producers Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Teddy Riley, Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, and Derek "DOA" Allen, and is due out in May.
