Mike McCready, guitarist for Pearl Jam, has recorded a public service announcement to raise awareness of Crohn’s disease.
Crohn’s disease is an incurable digestive disease that affects the gastrointestinal tract. McCready is a sufferer. 1.4 million Americans also have the disease.
The raise awareness of the disease, over 130 Take Steps Walks have been organised across America during 2011.
"I have been living with Crohn's Disease for over 24 years," McCready said in a statement. "Luckily, my disease is now under control. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for many of the 1 million plus Americans suffering from IBD. I know first hand the tremendous impact CCFA's programs can have on improving Crohn's and colitis patients' lives. I encourage anyone inflicted or affected by these diseases to sign up for the Take Steps Walk program."
McCready is encouraging Pearl Jam fans to start their own walks by signing up at the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation website.
