Evil J (Eliza-Jane Barnes) and Saint Cecilia (Cecilia Herbert) launch their debut album tonight at The Toff with Davey Lane.
Eliza-Jane Barnes (daughter of legend Jimmy) has spent recent years making a name for herself solo, with Liam Finn on the ‘Champagne In Seashells’ EP, and now with Cecilia Herbert, formally of inventive Sydney act Guineafowl.
The two have teamed up as Evil J and St Cecilia and have just released their debut Strange Beasts following a recent support slot with Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder.
They recorded the album straight to tape in Sydney, with a wealth of instrumentation including guitar, bass, ominchord and percussion underscoring their dual harmonies.
Get a sample of their tropical psychedelic folk on the album and tonight at their official album launch in Melbourne, playing The Toff In Town with You Am I’s Davey Lane in support.
They also play the Post Office Hotel in Brunswick this Sunday 17 April, Sydney’s Good God club on Tuesday 19 April and Oxford Arts Factory on Thursday 21 April.
