I met up with Simon Le Bon and Roger Taylor from Duran Duran last night. Duran Duran are here in Austin, Texas at SXSW to launch their ‘All You Need Is Now’ album and kick off their world tour with a show tonight at Stubbs BBQ in Austin.
Simon told me after the interview that the tour should reach Australia around December. They are locking the dates away at the moment.
I said that they should bring Robbie Williams along as their support act. Simon took it as the joke it was intended but then realised Australia has always been a nation of loyal Duran Duran devotees. While Williams’ star has faded, Duran Duran would definitely be the headline act today.
‘All You Need Is Now’ was produced by Mark Ronson and features guest appearances from Kelis and Ana Matronic from Scissor Sisters.
Shock Records released the album in Australia this week.
Undercover will bring you the Duran Duran video interview soon.
