Dandenong will beat to the sound of many different drums next weekend when The Drum Festival comes to town.
Festival guru and coordinator Kate Welsman, better known to many as Systa bb on Melbourne radio station 3RRR, says The Drum Festival will showcase the role of the instrument in many cultures.
“A drum festival presents us with a chance to check that instrument’s role in so many cultures. The bands involved think laterally about percussion and will present something unique to festival goers,” she said.
The weekend across March 18 and 19 will give locals free access to workshops and people all over Melbourne the chance to come to the Greater City of Dandenong to watch the live performances and evening events.
The revitalized Central Dandenong Precinct will be the central location for the Drum Festival with unique musical instrument stall at the Drum Market on Lonsdale St between the New Public Space and Drum Theatre.
