A French PR company behind the Daft Punk and Coca-Cola branding exercise clarifies some of the rumours.
PR company Spöka contacted Undercover to clarify some of the speculation surrounding the recent news of a cross-promotional effort between Coke and the French electro duo.
It’s true that Coca-Cola are releasing Daft-Punk-themed bottles, one silver and one gold, to reflect the trademark helmets the band perform in. The product is being branded as ‘Club Coke 2011’.
But Spöka claims that the Daft Punk Coke jingle that has been floating around on the internet is ‘fan-made’.
They wrote, “There is no official advertising or track created for the occasion. All videos, streams, mp3 relating [to] this are fake or fan material. No advertising on TV nor radio.”
Spöka confirm that “Daft Punk have actually produced something gorgeous and very exclusive on their side that will be revealed on daftcoke.com in May.”
The company’s website notes that Club Coke 2011 will be available in nightclubs and in the Monoprix store chain and is exclusive to France.
