80s metal band Saxon have pulled out of Soundwave at the eleventh hour.
Festival organiser AJ Maddah said on his twitter account a week ago “Saxon have had to postpone their touring plans due to a combination of album recording running late and illness in the family.
“Their allotted 30 minute set at SW will now be split between Slayer, Dimmu [Borgir] and one or 2 of the other bands.”
When user @AdrianaLP responded with “woo Dimmu and Slayer!!” AJ said “Yep. That seems to be the reaction. Poor Saxon. No one cares :(“
Yesterday the festival put an official announcement up on their site with no information on how to get a refund for the side shows or whether or not they will go ahead with just The Sword. Both the Sydney and Melbourne venues have announced that the show is cancelled, however, and that you should contact the point of purchase for a full refund.
So if you had a ticket for their show on Monday (Feb 28) at Melbourne’s Gershwin Room or Tuesday (March 1) at Sydney’s Manning Bar, you should get on that pretty quickly.
Thanks to Undercover reader Andrew Drilling for the tip off. Hopefully his cancelled airfare to Melbourne wasn’t too painful.
Soundwave kicks off this Saturday in Brisbane and heads around to Perth on March 7.
