The Brian Mannix ‘I Can’t Believe Its Not Countdown’ stage show will open at Crown Casino in Melbourne tonight.
Mannix developed the show 10 years ago and has given it two successful runs prior to this current season.
Comedian Michael Veitch is back as Ian ‘Molly’ Meldrum. Brian’s daughter Casey will play Kim Wilde.
Songs from the show capture the Countdown era of the 70s and 80s. Musical highlights come from Blondie, Alice Cooper, Dragon, Divinyls and Sherbet but Abba and AC/DC both refuse to license songs for the show.
Mannix has managed to get around the AC/DC issue. He can’t use any of their original songs so instead uses ‘Baby Please Don’t Go’, their first hit which was a cover of a 50s rock and roll song.
‘I Can’t Believe Its Not Countdown’ will be at The Palms at Crown Casino until February 19.
