Eminem’s manager says the star is “thrilled” by the overwhelming response to his Chrysler Super Bowl Ad.
The spot was a cinematic two-minute-long tribute to the resurrection of the auto industry in Eminem’s hometown of Detroit.
Eminem appears towards the end, driving a new Chrysler to the strains of his Oscar-winning hit ‘Lose Yourself’.
He steps out and into a theatre with a choir before turning to camera and proclaiming “This is the Motor City, and this is what we do”.
Oakland’s Daily Tribune reports that his manager Paul Rosenberg said, “The e-mails and texts stared pouring in. Facebook started reacting. Everyone all over Twitter was talking about it. Everyone from friends and family to people I know that are part of the Detroit Diaspora ... were sending me e-mails, calling me: ‘I got goosebumps.’ ‘I shed a tear.’ ‘You guys don't know what you've done.’”
He said Eminem was also humbled by the response.
Rosenberg said, “He's really thrilled He's always sort of cautious in his own judgment about things he's involved in or creates until they're really introduced to the world and he's got a chance to see how (people) react to them. He's very pleased with the reaction.”
He said Eminem was positive about appearing in the ad from the very beginning: “For the city to be seen in a good light in front of that many people with a positive message, it was something he felt like he couldn't not do.”
Eminem also appearing in another, less inspiring Super Bowl commercial, as a claymation character spruiking a soft drink called Brisk.
