Melbourne is heading for a forecast temperature of 40 degrees on Sunday prompting the Big Day Out organisers to issue a weather warning and safety tips for the day.
The warning for the Melbourne Big Day Out follows:
The current weather forecast for this Sunday in Melbourne is 40 degrees.
A combination of large crowds, a long day and hot weather will tire you out. All patrons are advised to be prepared for the day.
Patrons are advised to consider arriving at the show later in the day if they wish to avoid the hours that the sun is at its hottest - especially if they have an existing medical condition.
· Wear sun protective clothing: a long sleeved top, long pants, sunscreen, sunglasses and a wide brimmed hat.
· Apply plenty of sun block.
· Drink plenty of water.
· Patrons with chronic conditions (ie epilepsy, diabetes, asthma) are reminded to carry any medication you may need and information regarding their condition and emergency contact number on their person at all times.
IMPORTANT TIPS FOR THE DAY:
Water
Avoid dehydration – don’t forget to drink plenty of water! You can bring into the show an unopened or empty bottle of water no larger than 600mls (no glass!) and reasonable amounts of food without problems. Free water taps are located next to all toilet blocks. Misting tents are located near Lilyworld, Green Stage and Hot Produce.
Sunscreen
Extra sunscreen is available for purchase on the day from the Sunscreen for the Cancer Council of Victoria stall opposite the Merchandise stall in the Market area. Cancer Council volunteers will also be roaming with sunscreen at entry points and the event.
