MGMT kick off their tour with an extra special JD Summer Set show in Byron Bay in March.
Following last year’s Franz Ferdinand appearance for the liquor brand, Brooklyn’s hippest psych indie band will play a beachy show in Byron.
They’ll be supported by a band called Pond, who might be better known as three-quarters of Tame Impala.
MGMT have played Byron before, at 2009’s Splendour In The Grass, but this is their first club show there.
The band said, “MGMT couldn't think of a better place to play our first show of 2011 in Australia than Byron Bay. It's a beautiful part of the country, we have strong memories from our last visit and are excited to play an intimate show to begin our time down under.”
MGMT and Pond will play Byron Bay’s Beach Hotel on Thursday 3 March.
Tickets are on sale from MoshTix and the venue today. Get in quick.
