Bjork polished off a three-day karaoke marathon to protest a Canadian energy company.
Canadian Magma Energy have made plans to takeover Iceland’s locally-owned energy company.
Bjork collected 45,000 signatures on a petition to ask the Icelandic government to stop the takeover.
Spinner reports that the petition says “For 100 years, good people protected our natural resources and public interest. The sale of natural resources and irresponsible access to them began. Now it is time to stop that unfortunate development.”
She also took part in a three-day karaoke marathon as a publicity stunt to draw attention to the issue. One of the songs she had a crack at was ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’.
The karaoke weekend took place across the Icelandic holiday weekend of Threttándinn, which folklore says is a time when magical creatures can party with humans.
Canadian Magma Energy have already filed a defamation suit against the singer, who attacked the company in an interview with a Canadian magazine.
