Pop star Pink has reneged on her call to boycott Australian wool around the world.
Speaking to channel 9 in Australia, she said "I probably could have done a lot more research on my own, that's the lesson I'm taking from this.""My message was, in my mind, boycott animal cruelty - not an entire industry, not Australia, obviously, because it's my favourite country."
"Then going back, I was speaking without thinking and I actually did say ban Australia, which is bullshit. It's not something that I can agree with."
Late last year Pink appeared in a video for People for Ethical Treatment of Animals telling viewers to boycott Australian wool and showed graphic footage of mulesing, a surgical process done without anesthetics to remove the wrinkled skin around their anus.
There is debate whether a one-time painful operation is a better or worse fate than being eaten alive by maggots, which is what the operation prevents. (Flies can't lay their eggs in the warm and moist folds in the skin.)
