Queens Of the Stone Age guitarist Dean Fertita says the band will hit the studio next month.
Fertita was interviewed by Billboard about his solo project, as well as his work with Queens and the Dead Weather.
He said of Queens Of The Stone Age, “Everybody seems excited and ready to go. We’ve got so many ideas started already; I guess we’ll see what turns out to be everybody’s favorite. It's very much still (Josh Homme’s) band, but I think all of us really feel like we've found our space in it and can contribute to it as well.”
Their sixth album will be the first since 2007’s Era Vulgaris, with Homme taking a break to play with Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones in Them Crooked Vultures.
Fertita also spoke about the Dead Weather, the supergroup with Jack White, Alison Mosshart of the Kills and Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs.
He said the band is currently off duty, but “Everything seems to happen by accident with that band so who knows - maybe we'll have a record together in another two weeks. I think we all love the way it works, so I don't see any reason why we wouldn't try to keep it going at some point.”
And his solo project is called Hello=Fire. He recorded a self-titled album with help from Queens bandmates Joey Castillo, Troy Van Leeuwen and Michael Schuman, and Michael Horrigan from the Afghan Whigs.
