Willow Smith, daughter of Hollywood star Will Smith, might just remake his Grammy-winning single.
The pint-size ‘Whip My Hair’ sensation has said to Yahoo Music that she’s interested in remaking Will Smith’s 1998 smash ‘Parents Just Don’t Understand’.
When asked about it, she said, “There’s a possibility that I will…it’s a really great song.”
The ten-year old might have to clean up some of the car-stealing, girl-wooing lyrics, but it’d be an ironic nod to her dad’s Fresh Prince semi-rebellion.
The original actually won a Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance in 1989 for DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince.
That nod that was only given out twice (Young MC won it in 1990 for ‘Bust A Move’, with Will Smith being nominated again) before being converted to Best Rap Solo Performance and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
The song has already been covered by Lil’ Romeo, 3LW and Nick Cannon in 2001 for the soundtrack to Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.
If Willow does end up doing her own version, you’ll surely know about it.
