Very few people may have realised that Eagles bass player Timothy B. Schmit had a solo album this year.
Universal Music released ‘Expando’ in Australia in January but it came off the back of Schmit’s American label Lost Highway merging with the companies larger operations and ‘Expando’ falling through the cracks along the way.
The result if you are an Eagles fan is that you have missed one of the best solo releases ever from this band. I suspect you check it out.
‘Expando’ is Timothy B. Schmit’s home made labour of love. Timothy wrote and produced every song. He recorded it with special guests at his home studio under the proviso that the guests had to come to the house for the sessions. There was no emailing of MP3 parts allowed.
Those guests included a who’s who of the music world. Graham Nash, Dwight Yoakham, Kid Rock, Blind Boys of Alabama , Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Keb’ Mo’, Van Dyke Parks, Gary Burton and Greg Leisz were the names seen driving into Timothy’s street for the sessions.
‘Expando’ is Timothy’s fifth solo album.
Timothy B. Schmit put some time aside to talk to Undercover about ‘Expando’ when he was in Melbourne this week with the Eagles.
