Lady Gaga Talks About Born This Way

BBC Radio gets the skinny on Lady Gaga’s forthcoming album.

BBC Radio 1’s Newsbeat tracked Lady Gaga down after her London O2 Arena shows to reveal more details of her next album Born This Way.

Australia’s most played artist of the year says she’s still fine-tuning the album, but will release a single in February next year.

She said, “It’s finished and all. I’m just fine-tuning everything. It’s kind of like the post-operative stage of the album. I’ve already done the full heart surgery. I’m just sewing myself back up again.”

She said the album is lyrically more poetic than The Fame Monster and has a stylistic shift.

“It’s, in a very strange way, the marriage of electronic music with these sort of major, epic—I dare to even say metal, rock ‘n’ roll, pop, anthemic style—melodies with really, really sledge-hammering dance beats. It’s definitely the most innovative of all the music I’ve done so far.”

And she cryptically said that the album was “really written by the fans”.

“I mean, they really wrote the music for me because every night they’re funneling so much into me,” she said, “So I wrote it for them. Born This Way is all about little monsters and me, Mother Monster.”

Born This Way is likely to be released in March next year, and word is that she may debut the title track as the first single at the Grammys on February 13.
