The individual Powderfinger band members have thanked their fans and suggest forthcoming unreleased material.
In a mailout to fans, each member of Powderfinger have written personal thanks to those who have supported them over their twenty-year career.
Singer Bernard Fanning wrote, in part, “I think these gigs that we just completed had a particularly buoyant spirit that made it feel like a great way to bring our touring to an end.”
Drummer Jon Coghill talked about their audience walk-through before the start of every set, joking “I only got grabbed by the nuts once,” and cheered, “We've always talked of the symbiotic relationship we've had with music listeners that come to our shows - we couldn't really do it without you guys because that's how our music works."
Guitarist Darren Middleton reminisced about their beginnings at the Orient Hotel and driving around the nation, and wrote, “The words ‘Thank You’ seem inadequate as honestly, I have had the time of my life the past 20 odd years.”
Bassist JC beamed, “It has been an amazing ride and at times hardly felt like it could really be called a job.”
Guitarist Ian Haug also thanked the fans and hinted at future Powderfinger music.
He wrote “I am sure that there will be plenty of interesting stuff in the years to come…. Just no new stuff from “the Fingers”. Hang on… spoiler alert …maybe a song or two that we have already recorded?”
As for future plans, we already know that Fanning is preparing to record a second solo album, Haug and Collins will shift their focus to side project The Predators, Middleton will continue with Drag and also produce, and JC will take a well-earned break.
