Stephen “Pav” Pavlovic will step into the role of curator for Vivid LIVE at the Sydney Opera House in 2011.
In the past the festival has been put together by artists including Lou Reed and Brian Eno, but this year organisers have turned to Pav in a move that has surprised many.
The festival hasn’t announced any acts as of yet, but it will take place at the Sydney Opera House from Friday, May 27 to Sunday, June 5. Fans of the festival will have to wait a little while to hear the full program, which won’t be revealed until March, 2011.
Pav was a well known promoter in the 90s, organised Nirvana’s one and only Australian tour in 1992, put on the poorly received (but actually quite excellent) Summersault Festival in 1995 which featured incredible performances from The Beastie Boys, Sonic Youth and The Foo Fighters, founded Modular in 1998 after hearing an early incarnation of The Avalanches and continues to release music and tour artists to this day.
