Girl Talk, real name Gregg Gillis, has been honoured in his home town of Pittsburgh with a holiday.
Yesterday, the town of Pittsburgh declared December 7 to be “Gregg Gillis Day”, sponsored by Councilman William Peduto.
Gillis tweeted a picture showing the end of a document that lists various facts about the artist, including “[his latest album] ‘All Day’ contains 372 samples and was released as a free download so it would be easily accessible to fans,” “Mr. Gillis now resides in the Polish Hill neighbourhood of Pittsburgh,” and “Mr. Gillis recently opened the new Stage AE club and amphitheatre with two sold out performances.”
In conclusion, the paper says “NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby recognize the innovative and creative talents of Gregg Gillis and thanks him for continuing to make his home in Pittsburgh,” followed by “BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Council of the City of Pittsburgh does hereby declare December 7, 2010 “Gregg Gillis Day” in the City of PIttsburgh.”
