It feels like it has been a little while, after all, once upon a time Franti practically lived here, but lately he has been noticeably absent.
Franti was recently announced as part of the East and West Coast Blues and Roots festivals, but now he has added shows around Australia and in Auckland as well.
The one time Disposable Heroes of Hip-Hopricy leader will be touring his latest album ‘The Sound of Sunshine’, which is his response to spending time in hospital with a ruptured appendix.
“Last August, my appendix ruptured suddenly in the middle of a tour and I ended up in the hospital for eight days,” he said. “I almost died and during that time I really took a moment to prioritise what’s truly important in my life and in the end, that’s really about the people who I love. Even in that hospital, I could laugh with the people I love, cry with them, and start to find the sun again.”
