As well as achieving a Top 10 position around the world with his hit ‘Cooler Than Me’, Mike Posner has also achieved a University degree in Sociology.
Last year Posner signed with Clive Davies’ J Records and recorded his debut album ’31 Minutes To Takeoff’ but kept up his studies and walked away with not only his sociology degree but also a certificate in markets and management this year.
According to Posner, his sociology study has helped him with his music career. “Sociology is the study of people in society and it is my job to make art and hopefully entertain those people at the same time,” he told Undercover’s Andrew Tijs.
Having an idea about how business works also helps his day to day decisions in the music business. “I took a lot of business courses so those helped me along the way,” he says “I gave up the business degree to graduate early,”
This year, ‘Cooler Than Me’ reached no. 6 in the USA, no. 5 in Canada, no. 3 in New Zealand, no. 4 in Australia and no. 5 in the UK.
