Grinderman’s amazing second album has barely faded in the minds of fans, but Nick Cave has announced plans for a new Bad Seeds album.
In an interview with Spinner.com, Cave said “There will be a new Bad Seeds record next year.”
“I’ve got to write one,” he added. “I haven’t written anything yet, but that’s not how I go about things anyway. I have the starting date for the next record and that’s when I go into the office and start it. I’m not doing that until I’ve finished the Grinderman tour, which is amazing. The band is something else.”
The “office” that he speaks of is quite literally that. Cave has an office space in London where he treats songwriting like an office job in the tradition of the great Tin Pan Alley songwriters.
It might be a while until you hear that new record, but if you’re as excited as I am about Grinderman’s ‘2’, you’ll want to check them out at one of the following gigs:
