Vocalist and bassist Mark Hoppus has filmed an update from the Blink-182 bunker.
The pop-punkers are working on their first album since 2003’s self-titled hit.
A surprisingly somber Hoppus says that they’ve been hard at work.
They’ve been adding guitars to a song by guitarist/vocalist Tom DeLonge, reworking an entire song in a new key and tempo, and writing basslines for guitar.
The new guitar line is for a song Hoppus describes as a “kind of a downer song” but he says “I think it will grow and rock out”.
They’ve been recording guitars through a vintage Leslie cabinet, originally made to record organs.
A recent Hoppus blog said that a new track “is evolving into a fast, punk-rock jam in the vein of old blink-182” and he described another track called ‘Not For Real’ as a having a “up-tempo, indie-rock, Americana vibe to it”.
In the meantime, Hoppus has been shooting episodes of a new music show for Fuse TV called A Different Spin.
He’s already had visits from Phoenix, N*E*R*D, Trey Songz, John Mayer, Phil Collins, and Jimmy Eat World.
